Typical clinical cases of severe forms of Alopecia areata

Peter S. 15 years old.

The onset of Alopecia totalis was as a typical Alopecia areata small bald spot (patch). Then other patches appeared. They widened and merged all together and the hair of his scalp fell out within a month.

1. Hair condition before treatment.

2. One month later after beginning of treatment. 3. After two months treatment. Due to the treatment hair started to grow back, but in some areas hair growth lagged behind. At this stage of his hair regrowth the hair condition looks like Alopecia areata.
4. The picture was taken after four courses (after five
months) of treatment.
5. The control picture was taken one year and a half after beginning of treatment.

Alexander M. 22 years old
suffered from Alopecia totalis.

His eyebrows and eyelashes started to fall out also. (It could be considered as an initial stage of Alopecia universalis).
Alopecia totalis developed after several months of prolonged stress. 70% of the hair of his scalp was lost during 5 months.
Treatment was started six months later after the onset of the disease.
As the treatment was started in proper time the disease did not evolve into typical Alopecia universalis.

1. Hair condition at the moment of his first visit to
the hospital

2 und 3. Nine months later he regained all his scalp hair.
However his eyebrows and eyelashes started to grow back one year and a half later after beginning of treatment.

It is interesting to note that after the regrowth his hair became rather wavy and was not so dark as before. This hair condition has remained since 1983.

Yurry M., aged 27

He suffered from Alopecia universalis for 5 years. Alopecia universalis means total hair loss including eyebrows, eyelashes and body hair. He had lost the hope for hair regrowth.

Upper two pictures show the condition before treatment.

After second course of treatment his hair started to grow back (3rd picture).

The control picture was taken 2 years later. The complete hair growth restoration including eyebrows and eyelashes was achieved.

Philip O., 22 years old.

Alopecia totalis started as several small patches. Then they began to widen and merge all together. Within a month the hair of the scalp was lost. He visited our hospital one month and a half after the first patches appeared.

1 and 2. Some hair can be seen at the pictures but it was lost two weeks later 3. Hair growth restored after the third course of treatment. Hair grew colourless at first (approximately 2cm long). Then natural colour restored
4. The control picture was taken three years later. He had a full head of hair.

Philip O. was so satisfied with the result that he decided to grow his moustache also, that he never wore before.

A clinical case of mild form of Alopecia areata

More than 80% of alopecia areata cases are mild clinical cases and they readily respond for the treatment. Here we present three cases.

Becky L., 27 years old

1. Before the treatment 2. Six months later

Patients of the year 2007

Our clinic is specialized on the most difficult cases of alopecia areata, but we also can help by any other forms of the loss of hair.

Unfortunately not many our patients want to pr esent their pictures on the web site after the hair regrowth. That’s why we are pr esenting two patients at the moment.

Philipp, 26 years old ( Canada ), sportsman (baseball)

A dermatologist from Canada recommended him to visit our hospital. He suffered from alopecia universalis for 6 years. All pr eviously methods of treatment in Canada , USA and Europe had no result. The growth of hair increased after each course of treatment. He underwent 3 courses of treatment in our hospital and one more course is recommended in 2008.

Denis, aged 20 ( Moscow ).

The hair loss started when he was 20 years old. At first it was a small bald spot (patch), and then the disease enveloped almost the whole scalp and eyebrows and eyelashes. Alopecia areata was diagnosed. He visited our hospital 1,5 months later after the onset of the disease. The hair growth restarted fairly fast after the first course of treatment, and after the second course his hair became thicker and its color was richer.
